Loren M. Post Intermediate School

Loren M. Post Intermediate School was built in 1930 next to Fitzgerald Elementary on the city’s west side. The school was named for Loren Post, a former Detroit teacher and developer of school health programs. A second unit, including a gymnasium and swimming pool was originally intended to be built shortly after the school opened in 1931 but was delayed due to budget problems until 1955.

Post closed in 2005 due to low enrollment.
