Ford School / Highland Park Renaissance Academy

The growth of Highland Park in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s led to the construction of schools, including one at the corner of Second and Pilgrim. The cornerstone of Ford School was laid in September of 1909. The present-day building was added in 1924. Sometime between 1957 and 1967 the original building was demolished. A modern addition was built around 1984.

Highland Park High School closed in 2014. The program was transferred to Ford, which was renamed the Highland Park Renaissance Academy. Renaissance lasted for only a year before it closed too.

In 2019 the school was damaged by a fire set in the library.
