Fortschrittsbund Hall / City Singing Association

As a city built on immigration, Detroit was home to many country-specific organizations in the 18 and early 1900's. There were several German / Prussian halls in the Gratiot area; the Fortschrittsbund Hall was built sometime around 1924 to serve Detroit's German community, and was used for meetings, group activities, social gatherings, and performances.

At some point the ownership transferred to the City Singing Association, which eventually folded. The building is now in a state of extreme disrepair, and is slowly collapsing.
